Boss to be released?

Adam Shefter is reporting (via Twitter) that the Raiders plan to release TE Kevin Boss. Boss signed a 4 year, $16 million contract last season after it was apparent Zach Miller would be headed elsewhere. The move would save Oakland $2 million this year, and roughly $10 million over the next three years. Boss was average in his one year in the Silver and Black, and has never eclipsed 600 yards receiving or 50 catches in any given season as a pro. There are some more talented free agents available who could likely be had for a similar price, so I understand the thinking if this does go through.

*UPDATE*

Kevin Boss was officially released Tuesday morning, saving the Raiders an additional $2 million in cap space. He is reportedly visiting the Chiefs Thursday.
